REASON TO BELIEVE (T. Harden)

If I listened long enough to you
I'd find a way to believe it's all true
knowing that you lied straight-faced while I cried
Still I look to find a reason to believe

Someone like you makes it hard to live without
somebody else
Someone like you makes it easy to give
never think about myself

If I gave you time to change my mind
I'd find a way just to leave the past behind
Knowing that you lied straight-faced while I cried
Still I look to find a reason to believe

If I listened long enough to you
I'd find a way to believe that it's all true
Knowing that you lied straight-faced while I cried
Still I look to find a reason to believe

Someone like you makes it's hard to live without
somebody else
Someone like you makes it easy to give
never think about myself

is called pantheism
Off hand it would seem that to pick a God from a multitude is a lot more personal than a one size fits all God.

Without CONDEMNING their fellow men for believing the same thing- even without believing the same thing most people can agree not to murder each other (or can agree to condemn murder- you don't need religion to condemn actions). Why do the Hindu the Moslem the Buddhist and the Christian all agree not to murder each other (usually)? Because it is convenient to live in a world where people are not constantly trying to murder you. We can deduce many moral laws, and ALL good legal ones, on the basis of what protects the most people and what hurts the least. In this country we also protect the rights of minorities (and I mean those who are in the minority- I'm not talking about ethnicity)- so that the majority cannot decide to steam roll them even when it is in everyone's best interest to do so. That makes a certain amount of sense since there is always the chance you or I will end up in the minority at some point in our lives.
