Disagree. For those who want to base their vote partially on attributes that will only show up in a debate, such as physical presence and quick thinking, the debates will show that they're both lightweights, but Gore is always wooden, and Bush is just fuzzy-minded, much like his father. Bush has it all over Gore in physical presence and charm. He's kinda hot.<g>

Seriously, I expect him to dominate Gore onstage.

Wise Fool
How big an oxymoron is George W. Bush?

Perhaps he's just a "plain" moron. We'll never know with the debate debate running like this:

slate.msn.com

As of today he now thinks one debate is enough.

Message 14342672

Bush or those staff handling this element of his campaign simply do not understand that when the term "debate" is used in conjunction with the term "presidential" there are certain expectations involved a la the bi-partisan Commission on Presidential Debates. His strategy to avoid maximum debate coverage by taking Gore quite literally on his "anywhere anytime" offer to circumvent the Commission will back fire...it alread is:

Message 14338915

This morning Gore said this:

``I will debate anywhere, any time and accept these other talk shows and whatever format, provided we don't substitute them for the three prime-time, 90-minute bipartisan commission debates that are seen by all Americans. You know, that's a minimal condition for respecting our democracy,'' Gore said on ABC's ``Good Morning America.''

And the Commission has stated it is open to a more flexible format that might appeal to Bush. (Not scare him quite so much?)

The Commission and Gore appear to be bending over backwards to accommodate this guy and he's digging in his heels even harder.

I think we're seeing it now.
