TimesTen And BEA Announce Extended Partnership To Enhance Delivery Of Dynamic Data

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 8, 2000--

Partnership is an Extension of BEA's Recent Investment in
TimesTen's $21.5 Million Round of Mezzanine Financing
Building on the recent investment from BEA Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:BEAS), TimesTen Performance Software today announced an extension of the two companies' partnership, originally announced in February 2000, to jointly market a solution combining the TimesTen Front-Tier(TM) dynamic data cache and the market-leading BEA WebLogic Server(TM). This combination provides customers with superior Web site performance, expanded infrastructure capacity, and the ability to implement new, high-value, data-driven applications.

Front-Tier, the industry's first Internet caching solution optimized for dynamic data, augments BEA WebLogic Server by providing additional real-time data caching capabilities to enhance the application performance and user capacity of their existing infrastructures. Front-Tier increases the ability of customers to scale horizontally without being forced to upgrade their backend systems. Working in conjunction with an existing corporate database, Front-Tier manages an organization's "hot" content at the front of a multi-tiered data infrastructure, bringing the data one or more computing tiers closer to the end user, and eliminating the backend database management system as the bottleneck for data-intensive e-business applications.

"The true breakthrough here is that TimesTen and BEA have developed a flexible architecture that can handle massive growth, and at the same time meet the demands of customers who want an ever-richer, more personalized, and more convenient Web experience," said Ed Braginsky, vice president of corporate development at BEA. "Using BEA WebLogic Server with Front-Tier, our customers can quickly develop the type of innovative new services that customers want, and that is the essence of competitive advantage in the New Economy."

"BEA is well-recognized as a powerhouse in e-business infrastructure," said James R. Groff, CEO of TimesTen Performance Software. "Hence, BEA's investment is an important endorsement of the value of dynamic data caching, particularly as a complement to the solid caching capabilities inherent in BEA WebLogic Server. We look forward to working with BEA to more closely integrate and market our products."

BEAS will continue to lead IBM because they have superior service and knowledge

Is this due to their genetically gifted employees that have inherited a superior level of intelligence from their parents ?<g>
