Joking aside...

I am puzzled at how many times Kumar has been shown to be parochial, off the mark or mixed up in seemingly questionable behaviour (see eMachines IPO debacle). Two days after his call IDC comes to the table with a diametrically different story and now CSFB piles it on. The CNBC guys should be able to make hours of humor at his expense the way they did Acampora.

John:

"maintained a rating of strong buy with fiscal 2000 earnings estimates of $1.77 per share."

Comment: How does that $1.77 compare with AMD's fiscal 2000 of eps estimate of $3.50??? All other things equal, if INTC is $70, AMD should be $140...But all other things aren't equal...One major difference has to do with current growth rate, where AMD's is about 3 or 4 times that of INTC...AMD price at $33 is wholly unstable...Look for a major pricing correction over the next 6 months as these glaring differences become apparent to all...

NEW YORK, Sept 7 (Reuters) - Credit Suisse First Boston analyst Charlie Glavin said Thursday he stood by his recent upwardly revised earnings forecast on Intel Corp. (NasdaqNM:INTC - news) and urged investors to look for demand ``well into'' 2001.

John,

Here's an example of the confusing data I was referring to in my last post. Kumar says the pc market is going to hell in a hand basket, and Credit Suisse says otherwise. One minute I hear PC sales are slowing in Asia and Japan could be going back into recession, and then IDC says PC sales should be up strongly in Asia.

As an investor I don't know what to believe...so I buy some aerospace, maybe some beaten down retail like ANF and some fiber optic tech......and I stay away from the chips.

Currently both AMD and Intel are rated a C in IBD for Acc./Dist. A "C" is a neutral rating...sellers and buyers are in equilabrium, meaning forward movement is hard to achieve. I think something significant has to happen before the current scenario changes.
