Mary,
Hi!!
RE: No one is to be blamed. You have to look at this as an opportunity to sort through this mess and be able to see things clearly before others. That is where the money is to be made.

DELL is right now bigger than Michael Dell. DELL has a life and thrust of its own. The DELL story keeps changing. Market conditions keep changing.

Michael Dell gave life to DELL. He still has the most impact and he still is the only one that can tell the DELL story and have anyone believing it.

Michael Dell is no doubt a very intelligent person having created the DELL business model. But a lot of it has to be luck. He was the right person, at the right time and place, to implement a business model that is completely synergistic with market conditions and trends.

He seems to be a level headed person and maturing quite nicely and has not taken himself too seriously.

If anyone is to be blamed, it has to be with Michael Dell. It is understandable that he can not maintain the intensity into midlife and his ability to clone himself is questionable.

My bet is that he will get a second wind, and the best is yet to come.

"Luck is what happens when planning meets opportunity"...Michael knows the best is yet to come...I trust in that with 98% of what I have...He has a plan and I will be there for it...Yet, if he has one single "weakness" I believe it is in his view of what he can do and then convincing the media of his abilities (he's no Muhammad Ali :o)...)...Hard to explain this but I've told everyone I believe his strongest asset is this lack of arrogance... :o)...Now I sound like a politician here (playing both sides) being semi-critical of his lack of boasting :o)...And, reading his book a bunch of times and following every single sentence I believe I have a fairly accurate account of this personality...Truthfully, if this isn't evidence enough one should have been at the shareholders meeting in 98 when Darrell, Drew, Steve and a bunch of others held up a huge banner in front of him that said: "Michael, You'd the Man!"...Well, he turned six colors of red and I had to coax him to pose for the photo!!...Not a real rock star mentality you know...Say, this is not what I believe Michael has ever been and I don't expect him to change...Yet, I'd love to see more of him openly discuss some of the comments he's made in the last year concerning these new ventures/initiatives/partnerships...I truly don't believe he can allow anyone else to depict these new revenue growth areas without being the cutter on these concepts...The story about this company is and always be about Michael Dell...I realize he needs a life...I am there waiting till he decides to step back into the game...I've seen nothing but a winner in those eyes for a long time now...I believe I have a good idea of his dream...And, I know it's not complete...That's why I'm being patient...

Best, Kemble
