But he did an excellent job of being influential, and of getting his name and his firm's name in front of
millions of investors. His timing was perfect.

John,

I am sorry...I don't subscribe to a view that being influential is equal to making a call which is quickly refuted by a WW research organization...the attention he brought to the USBPJ is of the lost credibility variety. The rebuttal is as public as his assertion.

And if Intel rallies from here to new highs, how many regular folks will remember his call?

At a minimum all the ones that lost money in the process...that's a lot of people, given what his broadcast did to Nasdaq this week.

And also, maybe his guess will turn out to be right.

IDC seems to think he's FoS. I do too (but then I am pissed at the moment).

John,

I won't say that Kumar doesn't think he is right. But he did an excellent job of being influential, and of getting his name and his firm's name in front of millions of investors. His timing was perfect.

I agree...he has given Piper Jaffrey a level of attention/notoriety that it would not normally get, particularly with its location in the Upper Midwest.

And if Intel rallies from here to new highs, how many regular folks will remember his call? Not many. But how many will remember his name and Piper Jaffrey, many more than before.

This is where I disgree.....you don't f*ck with a fish as big as Intel. Remember that guy whose name started with a K...Kurlich(?)....he kept telling his clients not to buy Intel as it went up 50 pts(?). As far as I can tell he never recovered from that debacle and eventually left the industry.
