There is a policeman who regularly patrols our neighborhood. I think of him with a great deal of respect as he has performed some very heroic deads on our behalf. I, however, remind myself that he is not like me. He has been given the right to enter homes, look into my private affairs, physically restrain people, wield a deadly weapon, enter into violent disputes as a third party with authority. He is entitled to these things but along with it we have the right to expect a much greater degree of trustworthiness in him than other members of the community.

I think of the trust that has been given the Executive decision maker of our country, and all of the authority and power that goes with that. It is thousands of times greater than a police officer. You think that Clinton and Gore have shown that they are worthy of this level of trust? I don't.
