What are the chances you would have a job in Texas without the oil industry??
Interesting conjecture, I had a job in the oil industry (I invented credit cards in gas pumps, well at least as much as Gore invented the internet ;-). The company was Bush-Daddy's but is now run by Cheney. The last several years it's just been high tech, the new Texas industry.
