SETO-Developed Multimedia System Connects to Telephone Line and
TV, Brings Internet to Homes, and Plays Back MP3 and SVCD
SETO Holdings, Inc. (OTCBB-SETO) today announced the signing of a MOU and
Launching of SETO Telecommunication products with Pineapple Computer Stores
Malaysia.
Petaling Jaya: Pineapple Computer Store has launched an Internet browser set-top
unit that connects to television sets to access to the Internet. The multimedia
unit, developed by US-based SETO Holdings, Inc., also doubles up as a Super VCD
and MP3 player.
Pineapple Computer Store Founder and Chief Executive Officer Bernard Yeo said
that at a recommended retail price of only RM988 per unit, the system serves as
an affordable unit to bring many homes, retail centres and small offices into
the Information Age.
Yeo said, "Much has happened with the economy over the past few years when the
age of the Internet was growing rapidly, especially since the establishment of
the Multimedia Super Corridor. However, many people are still not in a position
to access the Internet because of the relatively high cost of personal
computers."
"With the Pinecomp Multimedia Web unit, users can now access the Internet at a
low cost. The unit also removes the complexity of knowing how to operate a
personal computer. When customers buy the unit at a Pineapple Computer Store, we
will register them with an Internet Service provider of their choice and
configure the unit accordingly. All the customer needs to do when they get home
or to the office is to connect the Pinecomp Multimedia Web unit to their
television set and a telephone line. To surf the Internet or to send and receive
electronic mail, they just switch on both units, and press one button twice on a
remote handheld infra-red keyboard."
Yeo pointed out that the Pinecomp Multimedia Web unit supports Java and
Javascript as well as cookies, and provides excellent access to the Internet
unlike other set-top boxes previously introduced in the market. Animated
graphics and frames are also supported. In addition, the unit also plays back
Super Video Compact Disc (SVCD) and MP3 media. Because of its completeness, Yeo
said that this is an excellent platform and business tool to support home based
businesses such as the network marketing industry as it enables distributors to
conduct full-multimedia presentations, log onto the Internet and register new
customers and conduct on-line sales.
Yeo was speaking at a signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with US based
SETO Holdings, Inc., the developer and manufacturer of the Multimedia Web
terminal for which Pineapple Computer Store was appointed as a Premier Retailer.
SETO Holdings President, CEO Gene Pian said that Malaysia was chosen as a
suitable site to launch the product in the region as the country has
demonstrated its commitment to progress and the Information Age via Vision 2020.

available in the world at only H4.5cm X W5.3cm X D1.5cm that can record and
playback audio in MP3 format. It can be connected to a personal computer to
upload voice memo recordings and other information as well as to download
digital audio files. It can record more than two hours of audio depending on the
amount of memory installed.
