Digital's e-Northern customers obtain expemptive relief

Digital Gem Corp GEM
Shares issued 155,500,857 Sep 6 close $0.375
Thu 7 Sept 2000 News Release
Mr. Vic Alboini reports
Northern Securities, Digital Gem's wholly owned subsidiary, has
successfully obtained relief from the Know Your Client suitability
requirement for customers of its on-line trading business offered through
its e-Northern division. The exemptive relief obtained by Northern from
certain of the Canadian Securities administrators allows e-Northern's
on-line trading customers to process their trades quickly without the
requirement of e-Northern having to review client orders to determine if
they are consistent with the investor's risk tolerance and investment
objectives. Direct access to markets for e-Northern's customers will be
implemented within the next few weeks.
Northern, through its on-line e-Northern division, is one of Canada's first
on-line brokers to obtain the ability to implement the direct routing of
orders from customers to the exchanges. "This is a significant milestone
for us," said AnneMarie Ryan, senior vice-president, on-line businesses for
the company. "The e-Northern division of Northern provides investors with
the tools and information to make their own informed independent decisions
on-line. Now customers of e-Northern will be able to trade quickly and
experience what on-line trading and direct access to markets offers them."
Northern, through its e-Northern division, provides Canadian investors with
a broad range of financial information, as well as the ability to trade
stocks, options and mutual funds, and participate in a variety of
investment activities. "We believe that Canadian investors are much more
educated about the markets today -- they are intelligent and want to have
access to information which they can use to make informed decisions," said
Vic Alboini, president and chief executive officer of the company.
The e-Northern portal at www.eNorthern.com offers a guaranteed 48-hour
turnaround on account openings, free real-time quotes, and some of the
lowest commissions in the Canadian marketplace. e-Northern's sophisticated
research and trading tools are easy to find, easy to use and most are free
of charge.

I believe that National Bank (investNat ?) has been trying it for a while now for a 'selected number of clients'. If I can find the link again I'll post it. It was a while back as I recall.
