Gartner says 15% of all 95,98 and NT installed base would upgrade to Windows2000 in calendar 2000. Isn't the installed based of 95,98 and NT combined is something north of 300 million? 15% of that is 45million seats. Considering MSFT had sold only 3 million till June 30th; Gartner must think 42 million W2K license will be sold in July - Dec 2000. THat is quite a volume ramp. Note that Gartner also expects 50% of all seats upgraded by 2001 or about 150 million seats.

But if the consumer market is driving growth, and w2k is not targeting the consumer market, why would the mix shift significantly?
