I can't see a chart doing that for you, accurately. I would rather look at the raw numbers. When someone makes a call on a chart reading and it goes wrong, then they have an excuse "why" it went wrong. Kind of funny.

Some people like to quote chart terms just to make them seem "knowledgeable" or it sounds cool.

We went over this TA thing some time back, we also touched on the astrology thing as well. Money and greed does strange things to people.

Cheeky,
you are coming on to a thread where most people use one form of TA or another, we also use FA. I personally don't care one way or another whether you believe TA works or not, but when you start using terms like "greed" and implying that we are doing it to sound cool and talk about giving excuses, it sounds like you are trying to pick a fight. Is that your intention?

Did you read the link that I provided that explained that TA isn't expected to always be right. But when a support or resistance area fails, we know to get out of the position.

If you don't believe that TA works, great. If you do, great. But don't come on the thread and start implying things about people that use TA when you clearly don't know the first thing about the subject.

Okay than, just for the heck of it, take a look at this 1 chart for me and tell me if it is just coincidence that it bounced off of 166.
askresearch.com

Granted, it didn't have to do that, but it was a pretty safe bet to grab some under 168. Bail if it fell much(a point or two max) below the 166.

This was yesterday #reply-14337371 it did two bounces off it for pretty good returns. I'm not holding it right now, but it wouldn't surprise me if it ran to just under 200 in the next day or so.

Anyhow, I know neither of us wants to argue, and I'm not using any buzz words to make me try to sound cool, just simple observations.

Do I believe in T/A? Absolutely. Am I any good? better than I was a couple years ago.

I am not sure what upsets you so much about Technical Analysis. Technical analysis is just the analysis of supply and demand. Think of stock as just another commodity that is bought and sold in the marketplace for myriad reasons. Some people buy a stock because they think the company they're buying into is going to find the cure for skin cancer while others buy it because it happens to be moving the "right way". But it boils down to buyers and sellers and most technical analysis is about measuring the buying and selling pressures. Sure, there are good analysts and bad analysts, but that exists anywhere. After all, you wouldn't really be seeing a whole lot of earnings surprises (up or down) if fundamental analysis was all that you imply it is. These are all inexact ways of predicting the future of companies, use what you're comfortable with and leave the rest to others. Heck, if you think so lowly of astrology, get an astrology based newsletter you particularly hate and bet big against it (you could try betting against Carpino for example). But to group all TA with astrology is a bit much -- use what works for you, and bet against the ones you'd want to diss. He who earns the most wins :-) -- relax, have fun.

Hi C.K.

TA is not like Y2K.<g>

About NSATF--seems that GM is getting pressured
to sell its Hughes/Direct TV division. I suspect
this may have something to do with the recent moves
in NSATF.

BWDIK.

It sounds a little like you're contradicting yourself when you state that "you watch how it trades" and then dismiss TA or supply and demand. There's a broker who has a radio show on the local station here who bashes TA or technical trading, yet with every stock recommendation, he is explaining what price to buy or add to positions based on his read of support based on past trading activity. Geez.
