From the Where Are They Now column...I read the other day, that Emanual Pinez is finally cloistered away in MCI Plymouth (i.e. jail). "The Street" just loved this guy in 1996 when Centennial was the best performing stock of the year. Big hero, he used to brag about it while pounding 'em down at his favorite local bars on the North Shore. He wasn't so popular in '97 though when they bagged him shipping fruit baskets out (holiday gifts to his customers), booking them as shipments of PCMCIA cards. Coopers was their auditor. The CFO of BankBoston was on their board (he subsequently left the bank to pursue "other interests"...at Centennial). The point is...it could DEFINITELY be worse. Say what they will about Rouhana, they have built a heck of a network and a company in a relatively short period of time. At least give them credit for that even if consistent shareholder value has been, ah, elusive.
