Synergy- networked storage drives bandwidth, bandwidth allows for the use of more networked storage.

Optical boom spurs visions of grandeur

"As we go to 2003, the expectation is that in the computing
expenditures, 73 percent will be storage, and today only 10 percent of the storage is actually networked
as storage," he says. "That storage is going to be networked. So, when that happens, you're going to get
another kicker of bandwidth. So you're going to get the access bottleneck removed, you're going to get
applications written that are going to assume that sitting at home you can see lots of video. You're going
to get storage elements networked."

That's a significant amount considering they reported .33.

All the more reason for hype-oriented cos. to use the tactic, especially when a penny or two per share can make or break a stock when earnings are announced. Right up there with mixing investment gains in with operating earnings. Talk about defining standards downward!

I've never known SDL not to be conservative and if they do make changes to how they report, I'm sure we'll get fair warning.

MSFT do not use it either and are known for their conservative approach to numbers (relatively speaking).
