..and wacky additions like XLA and LNOP are definitely entertaining, as is the ridiculous and rather undignified crush to try and jump the bandwagon early on anything that gets blessed by being engraved in the GTR's stone and sent down to earth through the clouds from on high. Of course I'm not complaining about WFII being added, but I already owned that.

GG always uses the last day of the prior month as the reference price. It is just a reference price and nothing more.

Keep in mind, GG doesn't suggest that any of his list will make a great 'investment'. He does suggest that they have some merit as either 'innovations' or 'discontinuous innovations'. And that their technology fits within the paradigm as he defines it.

As far as timing purchase, I think that is largely an individual choice. One's tolerance for risk, financial objectives and time horizons all play a role.

I have been a long time GG subscriber and I certainly do not buy every stock he lists nor do I hang on his every word. I utilize his work and that of many others to try to get my less than technical brain to comprehend. (I was a history major <gg>) so you get the picture.

If you want real technical discussion, go visit the Last Mile thread and Bernard Levy or Frank Coluccio (sp?) at his tech thread on SI. And a must read is the Gorilla Thread hosted by Uncle Frank.

I think a combination of these and, probably other forums unmentioned, will enhance your understanding of the various tech markets, investment strategies etc. and get you in a proactive mode.

I know they have been a huge benefit to myself.
Best of Luck

Bob

<<how funny, thats when the volume and the stock price of LNOP started running...so many of us on this thread pay Gilder how much a year yet someone has started the buying spree a week before we even get a look at it...thats pretty comical if u ask me...people within Gilder's inner clandestine circle start to load the boat a week early and dump on his paying members>>

He was talking about EZChip on his forum for a while before the report came out.
