MARKET SNAPSHOT--Stocks set to pause

NEW YORK (CBS.MW) - Stocks are set to take a breather Friday, with the futures markets pointing to an open on the downside following Thursday's run-up in the technology arena.

December S&P 500 futures fell 4.00 points, or 0.3 percent, and were trading roughly 2.10 points below fair value, according to HL Camp & Co. Nasdaq futures, meanwhile, slipped 11.00 points, or 0.3 percent.

Over in the bond arena, the 10-year Treasury note added 3/32 to yield ($TNX: news, msgs) 5.745 percent and the 30-year bond rose 2/32 to yield ($TYX: news, msgs) 5.715 percent.

Friday's economic news will consist of the afternoon release of July consumer credit. View Economic Preview, economic calendar and forecasts and historical economic data.

In the currency arena, dollar/yen (C_JPY: news, msgs) climbed 0.4 percent to 105.54 while euro/dollar (C_EUR: news, msgs) edged up 0.1 percent to 0.8730.
