The National Post reports in its Wednesday, Aug. 30, edition that Bema Gold and Miramar Mining reported losses yesterday while Crystallex International managed a small profit. The National Post's John Schreiner writes that money-losing Bema says it is trying to sell some assets to address its "future cash requirements," while Miramar, as of June 30, still had $27-million in working capital. Profitable Crystallex reiterated its intention to convince the Venezuelan government that it can bring Placer Dome's mothballed Las Cristinas project into production. In the six months ended June 30, Bema lost $8.2-million (U.S.) on revenue of $16.6-million, compared with a year-earlier loss of $800,000 on revenue of $19.3-million. Miramar lost $2.8-million on revenue of $24.3-million in the first six months, compared with a year-earlier loss of $7.5-million on revenue of $9.3-million. Crystallex earned $1.8-million in the first half on revenue of $16.8-million, compared with a year-earlier profit of $3.5-million on revenue of $18.8-million.
