The assumption was that AOL would use this CIS technology to make their access more TCP/IP friendly. They never did... 'AOL is acting very desperate here they've been desparate for over two years since this program has been ongoing. frankly, I believe it's called "marketing"' Buying Time Warner and doing deal with Hughs to break into the Broadband market that AOL was being kept out of, is real "marketing". Giving away 1 year memberships to fool shareholders with bogus member counts, is called desperation. 'I suspect DELL ...may lack the component and personal training to reliably offer such a wide range of components and OS's. your story smells fishy. send me an email and order number. i'll contact Dell for you and we'll see if we can't get this problem worked out together. i suspect the problem is "user friendly" and Dell unfriendly. if you throw a dog a smelly fish, the dog is smart enough not to eat it. these so-called "order takers" are trained to detect smelly fish.' I don't know what the hell you are trying to say here, but believe me, I've been dealing with DELL long enough to notice when they are falling down on the job. I'm just passing that information along to shareholders, not venting my frustration with DELL's sudden lack of adequate service. thanks, but no thanks, for your offer to "help". when sales is making promises production can't keep, and production is afriad to admit that to sales, it does not take much experience to recognize this problem. I will probably just have them cancel the order (as they are encouraging me to do) and reorder the Notebook with Win'98se, instead of Win'2K, and I'll probably get my order in 5 days cause Even my 13yo Nephew can build a notebook with that OS... Let's face it. DELL is basically putting their name on a Clone Notebook. If the manufacturer of the components for their Clone does not offer periferals that work yet with currently available OS, it only bears out the fact that DELL computers are only CLONES. Check out the Note books offerred by Sceptre. They are the same DELL clone.
