Aloha Jim, Tony, John,
Re : "Worldwide PC shipments are due to rise 18.5 per cent this quarter, with Asia Pacific leading the way, according to IDC.
Sales will reach 33.4 million units - an 18.5 per cent year-on-year increase, and 10.1 per cent jump on Q2."

Isn't this way short of earlier forcast (by IDC or was it Dataquest ?) of 31% year to year growth. It may be revenue growth, but since the ASP are probably only slightly up, it seems like 19% is quite lower than earlier estimate.

Also, I recall an interview where Sanders mentioned worldwide unit shipment of about 44million for Q4 (and that producing 9million will give AMD 20% share). A jump from 33.4 million to 44 million from Q3 to Q4 seems too steep. Is this report really good news (in short term ?)

Maui.

Hmmmmm. With Intel producing about 35 million cpus and AMD throwing in 7-8 million more, this seems a little low.
