WARRENDALE, Pa. (AP)

``I've got to get out and talk to people, and I'm going to do a lot of it,'' Bush told workers at a factory cafeteria.

``I'm going to tell you what I think and let the political chips fall where they may,'' he told a group of workers at Marconi Communications near Pittsburgh.

Bush described his plan to let workers invest some of their own money toward Social Security as a way of rescuing the system, saying it would shift it from ``a retirement system that's gone bust'' to ``a retirement system that's robust.''

Bush also reiterated his commitment to compassionate government.
