I might designate this class of company as "Bass" - big fish in a small pond but not any form of primate or royalty.

I like it! Much better than "shiny pebble" and other attributes.

We need to refine this idea a little. Would we be talking primarily about large mouth bass or would we include small mouth as well?

OT - My First Bass

>>To continue the animal kingdom naming conventions I might designate this class of company as "Bass" - big fish in a small pond but not any form of primate or royalty.<<

As a young boy I caught my first largemouth bass while casting a Heddon River Runt in the shallows of a prairie lake on a calm sunny day. I fondly remember the wonder of that beautiful fish amidst the pickerel weed and dragon flies, and the sense of triumph I felt.

I get much the same feeling from a successful investment. I guess this stock market thing really taps into those primal hunter/gatherer instincts.
