Re: Phone.com - WAP

<< I'm embarrassed to say I'm using ATT >>

Don't be. Anyone should use the cellular provider best for his particular needs with the proper balance of price, coverage, and voice and data services, regardless of investment persuasion.

I must say that I am most impressed with the new Quad-Mode (AMPS/TDMA800/TDMA1900/CDPD) Mitsubishi T255 phone with its large 10-line high-contrast LCD with adjustable fonts and graphics that ATT is using for it's AT&T PocketNet CDPD data services.

. The display is the best I have seen on any mobile phone, and it is offered with a host of accessories. The handset/service includes personal organizer access personal calendar and contact lists stored on the network).

I think I referred to a WAP like interface on this T255. Turns out it is WAP (using Phone.com's 3.1 browser), so there are WAP phones in a TDMA environment (even if not TDMA) in the States, and I did not know that.

Nationwide coverage overall and network capacity are better with Verizon (I've tested side by side with a friend using the T255 in some notorious dead spot areas in Denver, and on NE corridor Amtrak), but Verizon has no mobile phone comparable to this one except the pdQ which with 2MB RAM is a bit wimpy as Palms go, and we are kinda into a different genre of device with it.

AT&T PocketNet here:

I was wondering about Cape Cod. I have not been there for several years and coverage was a bit (unusually) spotty on my BAM mobile when I last visited.
