------------- Page/Crowes Tour Canceled

Updated 16:46 PDT Fri, Sep 08 2000

The off-again, on-again Jimmy Page and
The Black Crowes tour is off again,
including their sold-out four-night stand at
Madison Square Garden with The Who.
The October 3, 4, 6 and 7 shows at the
Garden are now soley Who dates a tour
spokesman said.
A venue representative told Pollstar he
wasn't aware of any changes to the
schedule, but The Black Crowes Web
site carried an announcement dated
September 8 stating the remainder of the
Page/Crowes North American dates have
been shelved as well as an upcoming
U.K. and European tour.
It wasn't clear if ticket refunds will be
offered for the Garden stand. Tickets for
the other canceled shows will be
refunded at the point of purchase.
The culprit for the latest rash of
cancellations was - once again - Page's
recurrent back problem. A late-summer
leg of the Page/Crowes outing was
canned shortly after Page and the
Crowes performed on "The Tonight Show
With Jay Leno" August 14.
Three of the then-canceled shows
were rescheduled in advance of a fall
tour leg. Those dates are now off.
According to The Black Crowes'
announcement, the guitar legend has
been ordered to get complete rest for the
next six weeks. After that, he will be
re-examined "with surgery as a
possibility."
Page and the Crowes hope to
reschedule shows in New York City and
perform in Japan in December if all goes
well with the ax-man's recuperation.
"Page wants to express his great
disappointment and distress over letting
his fans down as well as The Black
Crowes," the statement read. "The Black
Crowes send their sincere wishes to
Page for a healthy recovery and hope
fans will understand."
