If you went to college, especially if you obtained a bachelor's degree, you are not the voice of the common man. Only about a fifth of the population has gone beyond a couple of years of college. How do you know who is an elitist, and in what way? As far as I know, I am the only one who considers himself an elitist around here, and I am not rich, although comfortable enough. I certainly was not born rich. And my sort of elitism is this: that it is better to acknowledge that character and intelligence are not evenly distributed, and that people who know what they are doing or talking about are preferable to place in charge, instead of letting everyone wing it. Democracy is good as a means of ensuring accountability, but it is not good if one behaves as if the least common denominator is the correct standard, or the voice of the people is the voice of God........

You make assumptions about people you haven't a clue about. If Gore speaks for the "common man" and you're doing his bidding for him, then you've been duped. Gore doesn't give a rats ass about "the common family" or "common man". It's just a new focus group term his people have latched on to in order to fool the masses with sound bites. Ever ask whom Gore considers rich? I think you'll be surprised to find you probably fall into the group. Quite a few union people make over 60K a year. Guess what, you're the have that Gore is coming after. Michael

They are fairly happy to follow any carrot placed in front of them. 2)There aren't as many people like you as you think. 3)Lots of people have gone along with the current administration simply because they didn't want to rock the boat during a healthy economy. Most of them know better, however, than to join the choir. Remember when clinton first got fingered on the Lewinski scandal? His first reaction was to finger her as a stalking criminal. Of course he knew that was a lie. Now we've found this was a common Method of Operations for bill c. Almost everybody took note of that, and took one step back.
