SANTA CLARA, Calif. (CBS.MW) -- Shares of streaming media developer Tvia Inc. bounced more than 29 percent after the company announced it is teaming with Wind River Systems Inc. to develop and market technology related to streaming media libraries, Internet appliances and set-top boxes.

Wind River Systems' ventures unit (WIND: news, msgs) has also made a strategic investment in Tvia (TVIA: news, msgs) for an undisclosed amount, the companies said.

Tvia's stock rose $3.50 to close at $15.75. Wind River's shares slipped 94 cents to $46.63.

Tvia will distribute an evaluation copy of Wind River's Tornado integrated development environment with its software development kits to its customers in the digital television and set top box markets as part of the deal, the company said.

"This integrated development kit enables our OEMs to start writing immediately their application software and dramatically accelerate their time to market," said Jack Guedj, president of Tvia.
