It looked like 2 out of 3 people in Europe had cell phones when I was there - especially in Paris. I was truly amazed. And in Amsterdam, they talk on cell phones while riding bikes <g>

I was looking to see what they were using - not as many nokias as you see in the US, more samsung, motorola and the biggest name seen everywhere - on phones and advertisements seemed to be Siemens. Dutch Telecom even has Internet kiosks on streetcorners - standing right next to the prepaid telephone card only payphones.

Is it true that about every 1 in 3 or so people in Europe have a cell phone??

just read in a newspaper that there are 7.5 million people in the Netherlands with a cell phone, that is 50% of the population. Of the age group 16 to 32, 75% has a cell phone. All phones are GSM, some already with internet capability.

In Chile 20% of the population has a cell phone. Low cost of entry makes this a gadget not restricted to richer countries. Every taxi driver has his mobile phone.
