When I was a member of Roofers and Waterproofers Local #9, AFL-CIO, it was my experience that there were times when behavior could get downright thuggish. (Not me, of course)

We were told once, "bust his balls any way you can" about a non-union shop owner.

And of course we were always recruited to work in political campaigns. Sometimes that involved going to Republican rallies to disrupt. Always had lots of volunteers for that. <gg> It wasn't a requirement, but the BA knew who pitched in and who didn't. Guess who got sent out on good jobs and who spent a lot of time moping around the union hall?

Unions were needed early in the century, but times are passing them by.

I'm proud of my father because he is a man who never asked for a handout, even though he was in the union. He always provided for his family even though he never had more than a middle class salary. While most of us 5 kids were home, we were definitely lower middle class economically, but we always knew the difference between right and wrong, and when we screwed up, he or my mother let us have it. I am so thankful for the lessons they taught me. I try to instill the same attributes in my own children. It's hard with all the negative influences the liberals thrust in loving parents paths. I hope you feel the same way about your own parents.knc
