Hey, we might finally get screens on the porch, keep the mosquitos out! Can we garland the screens with wysteria (as in tim) and jasmine?

:-)

Volty,

Respectfully, I don't think we need a moderated thread.

Bonnie needs love.

Can't you hear the cries for it?

Let's give it to her.

She's lonely and loveless.

If she received love, she wouldn't have any other choice but to give it back to others.

Let this Porch make a difference in someone's life.
Otherwise it's just another stock message board.

Help her!

We can help change a person's life.
What will it cost us?

Bomb her with love!
That's what she needs!

Give her so much of it that she can't help but give it back!

I'm feeling a little wacky saying all this crap, but I think it will work.

Send her PM's and posts with messages of love.

Send it from your heart to hers.

We love you Bonnie!

Okay, 'Volitaire.' <g>

Relax. You want to turn it into a moderated thread, that's up to you, big guy.

I'm of the opinion that you need -- in order to continue this thread in ANY SORT OF WAY useful to those who are not in your wealthy retired position -- 'other voices, other rooms' besides happy-go-lucky 'rose-colored glasses'-style stock info, life info, etc.

I'll 'shut up' now ... at least for the weekend ... and see what's going on here next week.

Have a good one, Tom.

<<Let me tell you something. Everyone on this damn thread has tried to be nice to you including me although I know down deep you give a rat's ass.

Just a little more of your crap and we are going to a moderated thread and you can sit home and convince the walls of your agenda.

I would like to realte this current scenario with one maybe folks can understand. I am a FIRM believer in free speech. Moderated threads - HOgwash.

I am also a fairly avid rockclimber. As a rocklimber, I feel america....wild america, at least, is here for all to enjoy. When I first heard they were closing off access to one of my favorite crags, I went thru the roof. I mean, this is america dammit, A free country. Who decides and why, that public land is off limits to some, but not others? Why is mom, and dad, allowed to hike and picnic, while climbers are not allowed to climb??

Well, attitudes change. When you find out the reason's behind what seem like ridiculous rules, then, and only then, will it SOMETIMES make sense.

Anyway, as I said, I believe in free speech and I do believe any thread should be moderated. The more resons given to me however, the more I see the possible need for it. If people take advantage of the situation, sometimes things must be done, that on the surface, look cruel, but if knowing all the details, you see it is a necessity. Had I known, the rock was being bolted by inexperienced kids for a school project, in which they basically ruined some very good routes, and then thought it was so funny, they thought they'd keep doing it......well, let me tell you. Although I was the first person writing letters telling them it is unconstitutional to ban climbers from that area, I was also the first person there to volunteer to close the place off to climbers. If we allow the malicious abuse of our rock here, it will continue elsewhere. Sometimes, there is a very valid reason that can alter what you felt were very strong values you believed in.

No different with this thread. I dont believe in telling mary she can post and john can't, but at the same time, if the thread is being malisciously abused, maybe it is best to do what is necessary...no matter how many values it goes against...and moderate this thread. The last few weeks have been very interesting. Personally, I have just zipped thru all the crap, but to be honest, I signed on this morning to 200 posts. I wonder when I am done, how many simply should not be here. I dont think the porch is a place for personal wars, personal agenda's, personal lynch mobs, personal experimentaion with the rules and etc......it is for good people with legitamate reasons to be here. That legitamate reason may be a joke, or a link to a picture, or some insight on a stock, or plans to play golf, but I dont think the legitamate reasons include much of the crap that has occured here lately.

So from one American that believes in free speech 100%, you have my vote to do what is necessary to keep the porch from degrading to a point beyond repair.

Great weekend to all
