PDA discussion thread:

I started this other thread to really discuss innovation in the PDA product lines.

I'm not much of a chearleader.

So if anyone wants to discuss Palm, Palm.net, applications, software, Palm innovations, and specifically any PDA
issue -- flash memory, downloads, RIMM PDA models, Handspring PDA models, iPaq models-- then please join me there.

Ad,

Have you bought a Clie yet? It looks really good, and I think that the Palm Vx will be knocked out of the market by it if Sony could produce enough. Too bad Sony can't. The impact of the Clie is that the Palm V and Vx would soon be the low end PDAs of Palm's offering.

It's truly exciting to see the Clie, in my opinion. Like a typical Sony product, it offers quality and good looks. At this point, the Clie is still much of a concept product. The next PDA from Sony will have sound, which will go after Nintento in the gameboy market.

ZDNet: What was the most critical event in the formation of Microsoft over its 25-year history?

Ballmer: The advent of the microprocessor, which made personal computers a reality, was certainly critical. That's what led [Microsoft co-founders] Bill [Gates] and Paul [Allen] to write software to turn what was a hobbyist's toy into an amazing productivity tool that has dramatically changed the way people live and work.

We will be saying the same thing about Palm in 25 years.

Regards,

Khan
