For your information:

Next president will leave a big imprint on the Federal Reserve.
Two immediate openings for Bush or Gore to fill, two to four others likely
by '04, including Chmn. Alan Greenspan, who will be 78 years old by then.
Gore picks would be more lenient on gov't spending than Greenspan.
Also would probably lean more toward gov't regulation of financial sector.
Good bets for top slot: Treasury Sec. Larry Summers, William McDonough,
who heads N.Y. Fed'l Reserve Bank, and former Fed Vice Chmn. Alan Blinder.
Bush selections...friendlier toward big tax cuts than Greenspan,
less worried about inflationary impact. Two potential Bush candidates:
Ex-Fed Gov. Lawrence Lindsey. Michael Boskin, ex-adviser to Bush's dad.
