>>>It is getting late for Bush to put on a surge against a sitting vice president during an economic boom with the country at peace. The Olympics start in a week, and that will suck up a lot of attention. At this point, Bush has only one realistic hope. He has to win the debates – with as large an audience as possible.

Which is why there will be at least three of them, televised on every network. Just what Al Gore has wanted all along.

No. He has two realistic hopes.

The second: Al Gore being found in bed with a live boy or a dead girl.

Short of that Bush is as the author suggests "a bloated, maggot-eaten carcass on the roadside of American politics."

Would someone please call the Highway Department now?

I live a couple of miles outside the Beltway, so I don't qualify for the info they dish out if you live inside the Beltway.

Bush is far and away more popular with men, Gore is way ahead with women. I am an anomaly, I guess, I am voting for Bush and detest Gore. Virginia is conservative, so Bush will probably prevail here, but the states with the biggest populations are liberal.

Probably the deciding factor among undecideds will be the debates. If Bush doesn't gain points there, I guess he's done. That's the prevailing wisdom, and I agree. I expect to spend election night in bed curled up in a fetal position, just like the last two.-ng-

On The Bright Side... Would You Really Want To Be President During the Next Four Years

Especially when you can't blame the guy you came before you for all the problems.
