Ten,

Please tell me where AMD's four-year-old copper fab is located. I want to send my resume there.

I'm not certain that the fab guys will be interested in a verification guy. It might be worth a shot however;^)

Re: Please tell me where AMD's four-year-old copper fab is located. I want to send my resume there

Gee, Tenchusatsu, first a lot of wailing that it took 4 years for AMD to bring Dresden on line (mostly from Elmer and Paul, not you), now skepticism that they have a FAB that they started working on 4 years ago.

It's not a 4 year old FAB, it's a leading edge FAB that took 4 years to build. It's brand new, bristling with new technologies like copper interconnect and automated pod wafer handling, and is a class of FAB that Intel first broke ground on a few months ago. Intel claims it can copy in one year what AMD took 4 years to invent. That may very well be true, but still leaves Intel 1 year behind.

:-)

Dan

PS - I don't think you need to send your resume out just yet, Intel will stay in business for years on sheer momentum - it just won't make nearly as much money as it used to. Or course, some downsizing does seem inevitable....

PPS - I know you were kidding, I'm kidding too.
:-)

If I am the fab manager, I would not hire you. You are spending too much time on SI. I wonder if the recent fumbles that Intel is experiencing has to do with too many Intel employees are chatting and lurking on SI during work hours? <G>
