<<KG4, It is a person such as yourself that has no agenda that I enjoy hearing from on such as the actions of this board lately.>>

No Agenda !!!?? Ha, my agenda is clear as a bell. I want to learn, I want to laugh, I want to make money, I want to be a happier person than I have been this year, I want the world to be a better place, I want homeless children to find a home, I want rapists and child molestors to be shot, I want the national debt to disappear, I want poverty to not exist, I want good health care available to all, I want peace for all mankind.......

I could go on, but ya get my point I think <ggg>

As far as this thread goes....well, you know me, I will speak my mind to anybody, good or bad, but there certainly is no agenda attached other then to learn, or gain others insight. I may be a little down on myself and the market at times ( much of the time <lol> ), but again, I feel like I actually provide a half decent service on this thread. Most people are too scared to post the kind of posts I do, but they are feeling the exact same things as I feel. Well hell, I aint shy, so I have no problem posting and telling everybody how bad this stock or that stock is kicking my ass, and I think this is a good thing for the thread. After all, unbridled optimism/enthusiasm, is only good for so much.

Anyway, I personally think this porch is a very special place. Folks like me, when feeling down are met with kindness, love and genuine caring. There arent many threads on the web that are as "genuine" as the porch. I feel honored and blessed to be included, a to be a part of it. I dont think we are all supposed to agree on the porch...one of the great things is the diversity of opinions....so and so thinks the Q is ready to break out and so and so thinks the Q needs a few quarters before it moves. This is what we need. Genuine opinions/TA, whether good or bad, laughter, fun, commoradity, shoulders to lean on and folks to help celebrate and etc......what we dont need is much of the stuff that has occued lately. I wont go into specific details because any regular on the porch knows what instances I am talking about, but the fact is...the porch is one of the very, very few places likes this around. We need to do whatever is necessary to ensure it doesnt go the way of 95% of all the other threads that started out as very useful only to end up in the trash heap.

Just my thoughts

Hi Dealie.

Thanks for posting to Bonnie.

I still believe that we can keep this here porch.

I know my method would work if we only tried.

Think of how amazing it would be if it did.

Perhaps the term "Love Conquers All" would actually mean something.
It's not as easy as simply creating a new moderated thread.
However the effect would be incredibly powerful.
People would actually witness the ability of this other method.
We'd all grow closer as a result.
Perhaps others would become enlightened to this.

I realize we are just talking about a message board. But perhaps it could carry out into the real world.
Where conflict can be resolved in a more loving fashion that simply battling with each other.

This Porch is the only place that ever gave Bonnie half a chance.
I don't think any other place that she frequented has ever given as much.
As a result, she is far less offensive here than elsewhere.

It has to be rubbing off on her.

If it doesn't work, then at least we know we gave it out best effort and I was wrong.
But, if we don't try then we will never know if it could have worked.

As far as a moderated thread goes...
I certainly see your point of view and know that it would not be an abused power.

However, I look back and see well over 30,000 posts here on this Porch.
It's all of these posts that have built this into the wonderful place that it is.
It's built on a foundation of kind, caring people.

These posts are the history of Voltaire's Porch.

Creating a new moderated porch would end this long string.
A lot has happened since July 9th, 1999.

This string of friendship and memories will be topped off with a few straggly posts from returning lurkers and angry posts from Bonnie or other Banned people.

That is like moving from you beautiful house that you built and letting it rot away while you move into your new gated community.

Has it ever been discussed as to why the Ignore button can't be used at a group level?

Wouldn't that provide a similar effect without having to allow our Porch to sit and rot away?

Would it not work?

Would leaving this porch for a new moderated one be equivalent to admitting defeat?

I like this place.
It's worth keeping.
It's our cyber home.
We built it.
Perhaps we can keep it.
