Thanks for the heads up Joe. I remember seeing Doc Watson in college - some kid was noisy and heckling him a bit during his flatpicking runs. Doc stopped playing and said "Yeah, son, I remember when I had my first beer too."

That shut him up for the rest of the night.

Joe, I heard an NPR piece about Bill Monroe today. Talked about how Elvis and Scotty Moore took his slow moving Blue Moon of Kentucky and ramped it up. Elvo performed it at the Grand ole opry, but apologized to Monroe before going on. Monroe generously let him rip, and didn't mind the royalties flowing freely after that too much either.

Later, Big Mon rerecorded it more uptempo in a nod to the E-man, and the circle was unbroken. The NPR piece also played a Ray Charles version of Blue Moon, which topped them all, natch. I like Patsy Cline's version too. Just a timeless classic tune, with a new life given on each version from all of these great ones.
