Oblomov: the other point is that the U.S. govt is the only major govt. who relies on this crap. Therefore, the fudged stats make our productivity numbers look better than, say, the rest of the G-7. Does that influence capital flows and currency trades? Hell, yes!

The article by Epstein was laughable at best, he misses the significance of the Hedonic pricing sham (chain weighted or not)!
