Okay--what I've noticed is moderated threads often don't work when they're stock related. Somebody started a moderated elon, and a moderated rambus. But they don't get off the ground. Rambus thread can drive you nuts with the fights between bears and bulls, and often these days you get better info sifting thru YHOO rambus, but even so, the regulars on rambus thread are irresistably drawn back to it.

But when a thread is more general, it probably works pretty well. The mere idea it's moderated seems to keep things calmer.
