<font color=green>Q! = MSFT/IBM/Intel combined. Must read post on QUALCOMM value [from Buy Range thread - very longgggg post, but worth every hour to read].

Message 14356993

In there, it suggests Q! is like MSFT/Intel rolled into one. Of course, that isn't quite right. Q! is worth MSFT/Intel/IBM combined and with a multiple to boot.

That is because Globalstar is misunderstood. Q! has got vast amounts of dosh rolling in as we speak. They have got NetZero, SnapTrack and a few other dodackies under their belt. They have got $$billions more coming in the next few years.

So, what would be amusing and synergistic for them to do?

Globalstar has got world wide spectrum in a single mode, single band, single standard with a wide open technological pathway to benefit from all the wonderful new stuff being developed such as fibre [for cheap transcontinental calling], fast, small, cheap and powerful ASIC technology for WWeb access, methanol fuel cells for no flat batteries [carry a litre of methanol for a year out in the bush].

There are not 54 subscriber licensees for Globalstar. There are three [Telit, Ericy and QUALCOMM]. One could argue that it would be better to let Nokia do the handset manufacture, because they make good phones. But I think QUALCOMM might as well keep it and hire the expertise in cool design and design proliferation as the market develops.

Q! will then supply the ASIC [for all CDMA as well as Globalstar], they'll supply the software and they'll supply the box [in the case of Globalstar though they've given up on the terrestrial boxes]. That's the equivalent of MSFT/Intel/IBM combined [MSFT the software, Intel the ASIC and IBM the box]. But the CDMA WWeb market will make the PC market look small. Hence the need for a multiple.

The sky's the limit for Globalstar. Q! is sure to support G! financially [either by simply buying the whole thing - offer bond holders double their current price for all their debt then take over the company, or by buying new stock and leave the bondholders with their debt]. Q! will sell 10s of millions of handsets/devices for G! in the next 10 years. Plus royalties from and ASICs for Ericy/Telit. Plus new gateways, constellations etc. Data terminals.

Globalstar barely rates a mention in that post [linked above]. Wrongly I think.

Meanwhile, I'm hoping that Al Gore gets to be the President as he is favourably disposed to Q! and the Internet. George Bush should theoretically be my favourite [less government and all that] but somehow Gore and the Democrats seem a better bet. Republican Lott has already done enough damage in the satellite business. Leaving at least one arm of government with the Democrats might not be such a bad idea.
