Hoping for a pop in techs and a pullback in oil service next week. Very much want to shift my tech holdings back into producers and land O/S.

800Kbbl is decent. Can they produce it and, more importantly, is there shipping capacity to deliver it? Assuming average tanker capacity is 2 Million bbl, and round trip is 8 weeks, we need (800,000/2,000,000)*(8*7) = 23 tankers that are currently not delivering oil/products.

23 additional tankers, and big ones at that. Are they available? My money says not a snowball's chance in Hades.

Diana G. re DEMAND,

Yes I am somewhat concerned with that variable as well. IMO with OPEC producing at capacity, demand becomes THE key variable. Yes, I'm worried about that too.

Still I am getting some really strange signals from the market place here. Signals that taken together indicate to me that the markets are anticipating, not recession, but recovery. It is counter-intuitive, it makes no sense, and is utterly impossible, but still these signals cannot be denied at this point. They are saying recession is NOT just around the corner.

All suggest to me not an ending, but a beginning of a new economic cycle. If it is it will ultimately be a highly inflationary one.

Perhaps you could give me a simple explanation to this phenomenon? A simple answer from a not so simple girl would be refreshing.
