Hi Dealie, I am humbled by the nomination by she to be a part of the Committee.... & more so by having it accepted by you & Voltaire as the methodology to be used to make such tough decisions. First, I would like to mention that I personally do not like moderated threads. I am a bit of an idealist in that I would like to see folks use their own personal restraint when posting on any thread. However, this is the real world & unfortunately, there are those at the extremes who do not care about respecting community standards. Since free speech can be used as an easy excuse for abusing these rights, those with a penchant for destruction (or just personal agendas) will do so to the detriment of the community. FWIW, the porch was not created for the purpose of defining the limitations of free speech &/or community standards on public message boards. Unfortunately, it became the main focus as the porch tried in vain to resolve the conflict. In the process, we have lost some wonderful folks because of the turmoil brought on by one person with the desire to destroy something that worked so well for so long. The porch was being undermined by a troubled individual with a history of similar problems (IMVHO). Our focus & energies were being sapped by this threat from one individual. IMVHO, we are mostly drawn here because of the wonderfully diverse collection of folks who shared investing concepts & just about any subject matter under the sun.... caring.... sharing.... learning.... tolerance..... love.... laughter..... stress free living.... and the ability to agree to disagree are the porch's hallmarks of greatness (That is my perception of being a friend of Voltaire FWIW). I am personally saddened that we had to go to a moderated thread :-( I also feel that there was no other choice. I hope that the porch can return to the fine place it was not so long ago. I accept the offer to serve on this committee. I hope we never have to make a decision to remove anyone from this thread.... the idealist in me surfaces again..... unfortunately, reality tells me we will be tested :-( BTW, could we include She-x on this committee? She provided an excellent analysis of the situation.... She obviously suggested excellent parameters to keep the porch open, diverse & operational while limiting the ability for undue censorship. If her proposition was well thought out enough to be accepted, her input on the committee should be another voice of reason if/when the committee needs to be convened..... JMVHO OK, I'll get off my soapbox. Ö¿Ö
