Korean Consortiums have hundreds of members. What a nightmare. What would be the organization structure of this monstrosity imposed by the Korean Government. There is such a thing as having too many well meaning helpers. Will any of them make a profit. If this is sunc a great approach, how did Samsung and the operators get to 1X MC in record time without the Korean Government imposing this organization on them.

Participants in IMT-2000 Consortiums Finalized

The three IMT-2000 consortiums led by Korea Telecom, SK
Telecom and LG have completed selecting partners.

Korea Telecom screened applications from 750 companies and
chose 572 among them as consortium members.

Included in its team are equipment and solution companies like
Hanwha, Daewoo Telecom, Ssangyong Information and
Communications, Pantech, Telson Electronics, Sungmi Telecom,
Sewon Telecom and Locus as well as Internet content and
community companies like Auction, Ahnlab, Daum
Communications, Haansoft and Netian.

SK Telecom selected 300 companies from 500 candidates.

Equipment makers like TurboTek, Wide Telecom and High Gain
Antenna and content providers like Korea Digital Line and Paxnet
joined the SK Telecom consortium.

LG said it selected a total of 320 companies including 120 equipment
makers, 30 content providers and 50 distribution companies, though
it did not disclose any company names.

The three consortiums all contain members of the Promising
Information and Communication Companies Association (PICCA)
that had belonged to the now defunct Korea IMT-2000 Consortium.

Among PICCA's 229 members, 169 will reportedly join hands with
SK Telecomm, 40-50 with Korea Telecom and 10-20 with LG.

"It's unbelievable to me that the CDMA report didn't move Q's stock price."

It's the same old story. Most investment analysts/portfolio managers have so little understanding of the technology that they are unable to react to technology based information. A typical investment analyst is about 30 years old, trained mainly in financial accounting, and unable to grasp technology of any sort. What is really unbelievable to me is that any investors seriously follow these recommendations.
