mark and thecow, I have IE5.5 in the add/remove list. And the IE repair tool is under system tools.

I reran setup ( I think I could have run an earlier version on top of my latest) after the post this am and was able to run repair tool. It worked fine and I would assume I now have a good ie5 but still no file button???????
