Caterer sounds good. My father's second wife, the social one, who had a black belt in power entertaining, belonged to a cadre of women who would all go to each other's houses and help prepare for a fancy dinner. What you are describing requires help, at least you have to buy the pate and the terrine and the sorbet from someone who will make them fresh. If you do it all yourself, it will take days, and you need a really big refrigerator to store things. You will have your hands full just fixing up the house and preparing the mise-en-scene and wines and arranging things and getting dressed.

No-one will scoff if you use a caterer, they will feel envy.

I am reading "Little Altars Everywhere" by the woman who wrote "Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood" - she says, or rather her mother said, "Don't ever admit you know a thing about cooking or it will be used against you in later life."
