I haven't used their products (I am not a developer). But my tech buddies tell me their product line, having its roots in a object database (Object Store) can achieve performance and scalablility that can not be achieved with a object/relational database hybrid (i.e., Oracle).

I believe Oracle made an offer to buy exln a few years back and was turned down. Many people think an offer will come again as Oracle realizes their hybrid model will not cut it for long in this new environment.
