Problem with the MMT story is that it provokes MEGO-itis - "My Eyes Glaze Over." Like Whitewater. Is there anyone on earth that could read the details without using toothpicks to prop their eyelids open? Yeah, yeah, the guys are scum but you have to be a lawyer or a beancounter (or an engineer in the case of MMT) to even understand what happened. The general public is gonna cut those guys a break because they figure no normal person could have understood what was going on.

When I have to try a case like that, I don't want a jury, I want a bench trial, and the court of public opinion is even harder to persuade.

Not to say that some people won't listen, of course, just that John Q. Public isn't likely to listen unless they make it sexy on 60 Minutes or Frontline, and that ain't gonna happen.
