The attempt to stop ppl from overclocking using the multiplier is getting AMD some negative comments.. even from the fan site AMDZone

The Duron is definitely an excellent chip. As for AMD stopping overclockers, it makes sense to me....the company is trying to make $$$.

As I understand overclocking, you cause the chip to run at a higher speed grade. If that's true, then sales of higher speed grades are cannibalized. There can be a whole business of overclocking chips and selling them at a discount to the price of the chip at same speed if it were sold by AMD.

The wolf is no longer at AMD's door but they still can't afford any hit to their revenues.
