CyberWorks says directors/employees will not sell shares this month

Sep 04 2000 06:08PM

HONG KONG (AFX-ASIA) - Pacific Century CyberWorks Ltd chairman Richard Li, his directors and employees will not sell any of their CyberWorks shares this month, the South China Morning Post reported, citing John Colmey, senior vice-president for external affairs.

"Pacific Century's group of companies will not place any CyberWorks shares in the foreseeable future," Colmey said. He added that directors and employees would be bound by stock exchange rules not to dispose of shares a month before the company reports its results. CyberWorks is scheduled to report on Sept 28.

CyberWorks shares have fallen steadily over the past month on concerns over share sales by Li and his directors and ahead of a pending placement by Cable & Wireless PLC of part of its post-merger holding in the company. The newspaper said CyberWorks' management will go on a roadshow this month to help promote the C&W placement of a 4.9 pct portion of its 19.1 pct interest in CyberWorks.

C&W's stake in CyberWorks has fallen to 19.1 pct from 20.1 pct due to the completion of a 500 mln share swap with CMGI, the report said.
