You're right about the seasonal factor, scouser, but I think there may be another contributor to the recent resurgence, and that is the quiet realisation on the part of Market Makers that they need to start running an "honest" game, or at least give the appearance of doing so, due to the recent heightened publicity being given to MM shenanigans, and the organised efforts of some to correct the worst of the dirty-dealing that's taken place over the past 6 months. When thieves get the spotlight shone on them, they tend to cease and desist at least the most blatant, flagrant forms of larceny.
