Do you have any thoughts as to what OS's are best suited for a hybrid PDA/cellphone device?

Whatever dominates in the future will have to be able to run well on very inexpensive hardware because the mass-market will always be price sensitive. And that makes a "Windows Everywhere" MS the best friend PALM could have.

What's the current status in the PDA battle? A 32MB multi-hundred MHz PocketPC is in a fight with a 2MB, 16MHz Palm. Palm wins going away; smaller, cheaper, more reliable. A few bucks in component costs is a big deal when you're selling $49.99 handsets.

If, if, if...if MS had done something from scratch for PocketPC instead of this bastardized version of Windows I think this story would be looking a lot different right now.
