Covad to Reach 200,000 Subscribers

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Broadband services provider Covad Communications
Group Inc.(NasdaqNM:COVD - news) said on Monday it will reach an installed
base of 200,000 subscriber lines, exceeding Wall Street analysts' expectations
for third quarter expansion by over 30 percent.

Santa Clara, Calif.-based Covad uses digital subscriber line (DSL) technology to
carry high-speed digital communications over traditional phone lines. It has
recently made rapid expansion efforts, acquiring BlueStar Communications Inc.,
another broadband and Internet service provider, and investing in a Japanese
DSL provider.

Shares of Covad were up 5/8 at $19 in Nasdaq trading Monday. The stock has a
52-week range of $66-5/8 and $13-5/16.
