I'm going to wait for a firmer bottom as well, $50 would be nice, but $35 would be better.

I see the potential for SLAB to drop to $35 iff the nas tanks down towards 3600 next week on earnings warnings and oil/inflation concerns, while insiders unload a modest number of shares on Tues/Wed., while the semis are under pressure. I've seen some analysts say that there is the potential for weakness right now, but it will present a chance to buy on dips, rather than signs of bigger problems. SLAB may be under extra pressure because of the lock-up and small float, so I hoping to catch it on a dip.

The risk w/ the one DAA soft modem product that PC-Tel buys is that PC-tel is trying to qualify (probably already has) other suppliers, which could cut into SLAB's pricing strategy, and volume. So far this hasn't shown up as a problem, but it could.

I'd certainly feel better buying if the PE dips below 100, but I'll take whatever dips I can. Not sure of prospects to get bought out, TXN just announced they're hiring 200 new engineers for wireless chip R&D in France for ~$12 million. SLAB may be a little pricey right now, but I don't know.

Overall, taking a position in SLAB at a price ~$50 or below should be a good longterm strategy, but in the short-term it could have some trouble IMO.

I'll probably put in orders at ~$32, 35, and 38 just in case it takes a quick dip that low. Otherwise I'll wait for a solid bottom. I recently got in at $57, and sold ~$70 - got out in anticipation of buying back in for the longterm on a lock-up dip.
